Maintenance Technician II
Company: Holo Holo Charters
Location: Port Allen, Kauaʻi, Hawaiʻi

We operate out of Port Allen, boast an exceptional variety of vessels and tour routes, and were voted the #1 Best Boat Tour in the US (by Newsweek Readers’ Choice 2025).
Responsibilities include:
- Perform routine and corrective maintenance on vessels and equipment
- Service and repair diesel engines, plumbing, electronics, and fuel systems
- Maintain trailers, trucks, and dock equipment
- Conduct vessel checks to ensure safety and readiness
- Assist with shop, vessel, and office maintenance projects
Requirements:
- Diesel mechanic experience required; Cummins experience preferred
- Knowledge of marine systems and mechanical repairs
- Ability to work 35–40 hours per week with on-call availability
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays

Lead Captain

Job Description: Our company is seeking a highly experienced Lead Captain with expertise in weather forecasting and interpretation and knowledge of Kauai’s ocean conditions. The ideal candidate should also have a strong background in leadership and management. As Lead Captain, you would ensure that our vessels maintain a superior appearance and comply with all applicable safety and regulatory requirements. Additionally, you would oversee and manage the captain and crew members to maintain a productive and fulfilling workplace while ensuring that company standards and policies are followed.
Responsibilities:
- Operate and navigate vessels in compliance with all safety regulations, company procedures, and maritime guidelines.
- Ensure all safety equipment on board is properly maintained, accessible, and in good working condition.
- Lead and manage boat crew by delegating tasks, supporting teamwork, and encouraging effective collaboration during daily operations.
- Supervise the training and development of new captains and crew members.
- Assist with creating crew schedules based on operational needs, crew availability, training requirements, and vessel readiness. Submit schedules to the Operations Manager for final review, approval, and publishing.
- Maintain high standards for vessel appearance, cleanliness, organization, and overall upkeep.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks and minor repairs on vessels, and promptly communicate or address mechanical issues as needed.
- Provide excellent customer service by anticipating guest needs, resolving concerns professionally, and helping create a safe and memorable experience.
- Support communication and collaboration between departments to help ensure smooth daily operations and alignment with company goals.
- Promote a productive, professional, and safety-focused work environment for captains and crew.
Requirements:
- Available to work flexible hours, including weekends & holidays.
- Ability to work under pressure and handle emergencies while maintaining excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills to effectively lead a team.
- 5 years of Boat Captain experience is preferred.
- Proven experience in operating and navigating boats safely and efficiently.
- Knowledge of relevant regulations and laws governing boat operations.
- US Coast Guard Merchant Mariner Credential 50 GRT
- FCC Radio Operator
- TWIC Card
- Driver’s license and reliable transportation.

- Ocean tourism industry and customer service experience preferred.
- Knowledge of Kauai’s history and culture is a big plus.
- Must be 18+ years old, professional, reliable, and available on weekends and holidays.

- Full-time & part-time positions available.
- Must be available for in-person interviews and pass pre-employment/random drug tests.
- Crew wages start at $20-$23/hour, based on experience, excluding gratuities.
